Hello, Southern Soil Community!
One of our goals this year is to increase our presence in the blogosphere and provide you all with some fresh content between published issues of the online magazine. Our blog allows for a more casual writing approach and the opportunity to give you a glimpse into stories as they develop.
So, here are some things that are coming up!
I am preparing for three days of being wined and dined by the Georgia Department of Agriculture as I have been invited to attend the Georgia Grown Culinary Tour of South and Coastal Georgia. We will be making stops at all kinds of farms and places in Glennville, Metter, Vidalia, Lyons, Statesboro and Savannah. I’m really excited to get to see my own neighborhood featured and spotlighted in this way.
Some of the places we will be visiting are conventional farms and others are will be of the more sustainable variety… in this situation, I’ll be writing about all of them for the blog. Some of the sustainable farm visits will also be featured as articles in upcoming issues of the magazine.
I also hope to feature a number of guest bloggers on the site this year, because I know y’all want to from hear from someone other than me from time to time!
I’m happy to announce that Kirsten Breau (one of our writing contributors from this past issue of Southern Soil) is currently working on an article for our next issue that will feature a number of local breweries. She’s a bit of a craft beer enthusiast and will also be blogging about her experience as she tours breweries and tastes some of the unique craft beers of Southeast Georgia.
We’re excited to be highlighting a number of really great businesses in our next issue and as our work on putting together that content continues, we will keep you posted right here!
